The Atelier Marie: The Alchemist of Salburg is the first game to the series and follows a 19 years old girl who actually lives in Salburg. This city is a medieval-style made believe place. Marie, the student, is the worst student in her class, and she is so harmful to the point where she is about to be expelled from the school.

Her teacher takes pity on her and offers her an Atelier, which is like a workshop and five years to create something great.

The game was actually a Japanese release to date and on the PlayStation; however, it was later added to the Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, and Microsoft Windows. Finally, In 2018 a fan translated copy becomes available for the playstation2.

The third game of the Atelier series was called Atelier Lilie: The Alchemist of Salburg 3. This one follows a new alchemist named Lilie, who arrives in Salburg to build an alchemist academy.

At the time, the kingdom had no experience with the craft, unlike their neighbors, so it is up to Lilie to convince King Schigsal of the potential and benefits of Alchemy.

Although this was the third and final game of the series, it was a prequel of sought, and the events took place about 20 years before Marie’s story in the first game. This game was released exclusively in Japan. The game introduced some new characters but also the younger versions that we knew from the previous games.

This Game the Atelier Judie: The Alchemist of Gramnad is the fourth game in the timeline; however, it is the first game of the new series after the first trilogy. In this game, we are introduced to the hero named Judith Volltone, who owns an alchemist shop handed to her by her parents.

The Atelier Judie: The Alchemist of Gramnad Part 2 is the second and final part of the Gramnad series. In the chronology, it is the fifth game in the series. When you ask which is the best atelier game, then this particular game may hold that moniker. 

The gameline takes place around twenty years after the first game and roughly about one year after the events in Atelier Elie.

The protagonist of this story is Viorate from a small village named Karotte Village, which is in the Kingdom of Kaneland. The kingdom happens to be in the southwest continent of Gramnad and on a peninsula. 

The game begins with a dream, and after which, the hero’s brother Bartholomaus wakes her up to tell her that their parents are leaving the village today, but she does not want to go with them and instead wants to open an alchemy shop in the town.
